Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported that a man was shot and killed by a deputy in the parking lot of Main Event, a family entertainment venue in Highlands Ranch. The incident occurred late on Saturday night and also left one woman injured but in stable condition, with another taken to the hospital for a non-life-threatening issue. Deputies had responded to reports of an active shooter and found a man with a gun in the parking lot, which led to the fatal shooting by the deputy.
Inside the venue, another woman was found shot and was taken to the hospital. Investigations suggest that the shooter was the woman who was later arrested, but her identity has not been revealed. Main Event offers various entertainment opportunities, such as arcade games and mini-golf, for families. Sheriff Darren Weekly confirmed that there is no ongoing danger to the public and that all individuals involved have been contacted by deputies.
The shooting is being investigated by the 23rd Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team, and authorities are looking into the connection between the shooter inside the venue and the armed man outside. Weekly praised the deputy’s quick response to the scene, stating that the situation could have been much worse. The sheriff is asking any witnesses who have not yet spoken to investigators to come forward. Main Event remained open and busy during the shooting, with Weekly describing it as a dangerous and chaotic scene.
