Colorado’s Deion Sanders Offers Health Update, Reveals He’s ‘Still Facing Challenges’

Colorado Coach Deion Sanders Continues Recovery Ahead of Preseason Practice

Boulder, CO – Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has shared that he is still recovering from an undisclosed health issue as he prepares to return to campus for preseason football practice. In a recent YouTube video posted by his son, Sanders acknowledged, “I ain’t all the way recovered,” while engaging in various activities like tennis and running.

During his first public appearance in months at Big 12 media days, Sanders refrained from discussing the specifics of his health, focusing instead on his team. “I’m not here to talk about my health,” he stated, emphasizing his commitment to coaching the Buffaloes. Despite his absence from campus since late April, he has maintained constant communication with his coaching staff and athletic director Rick George, who expects Sanders back in Boulder soon.

Sanders’ health challenges are not new; he has a history of blood clot issues and underwent surgery this year to alleviate complications that prevented his attendance at Pac-12 media days. In 2021, he also faced significant health setbacks, including the amputation of two toes.

Though he hosted an NFL Draft party for his son Shedeur last April, Sanders has largely remained out of the public eye, missing campus activities and summer recruitment events. His last appearance was at the spring game on April 19.

Looking ahead, Sanders has expressed eagerness to return, hinting at a more detailed update upon his arrival in Boulder. Colorado’s preseason practice commences later this month, culminating in their season opener against Georgia Tech on August 29. As Sanders continues to recover, his return is highly anticipated by players, fans, and the entire Colorado community.
