Denver Broncos Legend’s Agent Dies Following Golf Cart Accident

DENVER — The tragedy involving Jeff Sperbeck, former agent of Broncos icon John Elway, has shocked the sports community. Sperbeck, 62, succumbed to injuries from a golf cart accident in La Quinta, California, after being on life support for several days.

According to the Riverside County Coroner, the incident occurred Saturday evening at the Madison Club, a private golf course. Elway, a Hall of Fame quarterback, was reportedly driving the golf cart with Sperbeck riding on the back when the fall happened. Witness Ali Simon recounted the scene, describing it as “so scary” and unlike anything she had ever seen. She reported that Elway called 911 immediately following the accident.

Sperbeck was initially taken to Desert Regional Medical Center but sadly died just after 1 a.m. on Wednesday. He was not only Elway’s agent but also a long-time business partner, having represented more than 100 NFL players throughout his three-decade career. He was instrumental in creating 7Cellars winery alongside Elway in 2013.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, having been alerted on Monday afternoon. Elway’s legacy as a two-time Super Bowl champion and nine-time Pro Bowler continues to resonate, as he served as the Broncos’ general manager from 2013 to 2020.

Denver7 is actively seeking further details and has reached out to the Broncos organization for a statement, which has yet to be received. As the investigation unfolds, the community mourns the loss of a dedicated professional who made a significant impact in the world of sports.
