DALLAS — The Dallas Stars seized a commanding 3-2 lead in their first-round playoff series against the Colorado Avalanche with a decisive 6-2 victory in Game 5. Wyatt Johnson started the scoring frenzy just nine seconds into the match, a quick goal that set the tone for the evening.
As the first period progressed, Thomas Harley found the back of the net in the final minute, extending Dallas’s lead. Former Avalanche star Mikko Rantanen added to the pressure with a goal just over a minute into the second period, bringing the score to 3-0.
Despite the setback, the Avalanche fought back with goals from Artturi Lehkonen and Nathan MacKinnon midway through the second period, narrowing the gap to one goal. However, the Stars swiftly countered, with Johnson netting his second goal of the night during a power play, reclaiming a two-goal advantage.
Mason Marchment then scored with just 88 seconds remaining in the second period, putting Dallas up 5-2. Roope Hintz added an empty-net goal in the final minutes, sealing the victory for the Stars.
