Colorado Ski Resorts to Experience Late-Season Snowfall
Copper Mountain, CO – April 28, 2025 – Spring skiing is getting a refreshing boost as light snow fell across Colorado’s high country, delivering 1-3 inches to several ski resorts over the weekend. Following a late Sunday snowstorm, unsettled weather is expected to linger in the mountainous regions, with more snowfall anticipated in the coming days.
The recent precipitation comes courtesy of two low-pressure systems making their way through the state. Ski areas in the northern, western, and central mountains, including Winter Park, reported up to 2 inches of fresh powder by Monday morning, revitalizing conditions for skiers.
Forecasts predict continued snow showers throughout Monday, with an additional 1-4 inches likely in various mountain zones. The primary low-pressure system is currently situated over eastern Nevada and western Utah, navigating southeast toward Arizona and New Mexico before dissipating by midweek. Colorado’s snowfall will gradually redistribute itself, with northern mountains seeing totals of 7-11 inches by May 7, while central and southern mountains expect 4-9 inches and 5-10 inches, respectively.
Looking ahead, ski enthusiasts can anticipate another significant snow event starting Sunday, which is projected to last into early May, augmenting totals further. However, forecasts suggest a drying trend post-May 7, signaling a shift toward warmer spring conditions.
Currently, Colorado resorts continue to operate with varying snowfall; popular destinations like Loveland and Winter Park remain open, while many others, including Aspen and Telluride, have closed for the season. For those ready to hit the slopes, this late-season snow offers an unexpected opportunity to enjoy the spring ski experience.
