The Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance (DZCA) announced the name of its newest resident, a baby giraffe named Thorn. Thorn was born on March 7 to mother BB after a 444-day pregnancy. He is the first calf for BB and her mate Jasiri. The name Thorn was chosen through a public vote, with the funds raised going towards the care of the giraffe family. Thorn currently weighs 259 pounds and is getting along well with his parents and the other giraffe in the herd, Dobby. While he is not yet eating solid foods, Thorn is interacting with zoo visitors and enjoying his time outside. The Denver Zoo is excited to welcome Thorn and is committed to caring for their growing giraffe family.
