Six international students attending universities in Colorado file lawsuit against Trump administration

The Trump administration’s recent crackdown on international students has left more than 30 students in Colorado without their F-1 visas. Across universities in Colorado, 16 students at Colorado State University and 22 students at the University of Colorado have had their visas revoked. This has caused fear and uncertainty among students, with many wondering how they will finish their semester.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the visa revocations are primarily targeting individuals involved in protests against Israel’s war in Gaza and those with outstanding criminal charges. However, the students affected by the revocations are not hardened criminals, according to their attorney Zachary New.

New represents six international students who are suing the U.S. Department of Homeland Security after their visas were revoked. The students, from various regions around the world, have only minor criminal infractions on their records. They are seeking to have their immigration records restored so they can continue their studies without fear of deportation.

The lawsuits were filed in U.S. District Court in Denver, and the first hearings are expected to take place in about two weeks. New emphasized the psychological impact of the visa revocations on the students, stating that it is immense. The students are eager to have their records restored and be able to stay in the country to pursue their education.
