Phil Weiser promotes fundraising as Manny Rutinel leads Gabe Evans

Democratic challenger Manny Rutinel is leading in fundraising over Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. Gabe Evans in what is expected to be a closely watched race for Colorado’s 8th Congressional District in the 2026 elections. Rutinel has raised nearly $1.2 million compared to Evans’ $810,000. However, Evans has more funds on hand as Rutinel is spending more rapidly to kickstart his campaign.
Former Rep. Yadira Caraveo recently entered the race, adding another dynamic to the competition. The district has been highly competitive in recent years, with Caraveo winning in 2022 and then losing to Evans in 2024 by a narrow margin.
In the statewide races, Attorney General Phil Weiser has a significant fundraising lead over potential Republican nominees for the governor’s office, with over $1.9 million raised and $1.7 million on hand. U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet, another Democratic contender for governor, will reveal his fundraising numbers in the next filing.
In the attorney general’s race, Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty leads in fundraising among Democratic candidates, with former Speaker of the Colorado House Crisanta Duran trailing behind. Term-limited Secretary of State Jena Griswold, who recently announced her campaign, surpassed Dougherty’s fundraising numbers in the initial phase.
The races are expected to intensify as candidates gear up for the election, with more updates expected in the coming months.
