Gabe Landeskog returns to Avalanche following conditioning assignment

Gabe Landeskog, Colorado Avalanche captain, has returned to the team after a stint with the AHL’s Colorado Eagles on a conditioning assignment. Landeskog had not played for the Avs since Game 6 of the 2022 Stanley Cup Final due to issues with his right knee. He scored a goal and had an assist during his time with the Eagles, marking his return to competitive play after 1,020 days.

The Avalanche’s regular season has ended, and they will be facing the Dallas Stars in the opening round of the playoffs, likely on Saturday or Sunday at American Airlines Center. Landeskog’s return comes after undergoing knee ligament replacement surgery in May 2023, a procedure that no NHL player has returned from yet. However, Lonzo Ball had the same procedure and successfully returned to play for the Chicago Bulls this season.

Fans can stay updated on the Avalanche and the NHL by signing up for the Avalanche Insider for in-depth analysis and news. Landeskog’s return is a promising development for the team as they head into the playoffs with hopes of a strong performance.
