After nearly 70 years of serving up their famous cinnamon rolls, Johnson’s Corner in Johnstown, Colorado has closed its doors for the last time. The iconic restaurant, which opened on I-25 in 1952, was well-known for its delicious pastries and had become a staple for locals and travelers alike.
But all is not lost for fans of Johnson’s Corner and its cinnamon rolls. While the restaurant is undergoing renovations to become a Black Bear Diner, the convenience store on the property will remain open for business. Customers will still be able to purchase baked goods, fuel, and other essentials at the location.
Black Bear Diner, a chain with three locations already in Colorado, will be taking over the space and reopening it as a new restaurant. While the cinnamon rolls may no longer be available at Johnson’s Corner, diners can look forward to enjoying the comfort food and friendly atmosphere that Black Bear Diner is known for.
The closure of Johnson’s Corner marks the end of an era for many residents of Colorado who have fond memories of stopping by for a cinnamon roll and a cup of coffee. However, the legacy of the beloved restaurant will live on in the form of its famous pastries, now available at the convenience store, and in the upcoming transformation into a Black Bear Diner.
