Monarch Mountain, located in Salida, Colorado, is expanding its ski terrain with the addition of the new No Name Basin expansion zone. The expansion will add 377 acres of new terrain and 10-12 new named runs to the ski area. This new terrain will feature 1,000 vertical feet with a variety of options for skiers and riders, including intermediate and advanced trails with groomed, bump, and gladed sections. The terrain drops off the backside of the existing ski area boundary behind the Breezeway lift.
As part of the expansion, Monarch will install a Skytrac three-person fixed-grip lift with roughly a 1,000 vertical feet fall line. The ski area is also working to accommodate the influx of guests that the expansion will bring by acquiring additional parking spaces and encouraging carpooling.
Construction on the new terrain began this summer and will continue through the summer of 2025, with plans to open the new terrain for the 2025-26 ski season. The expansion aims to enhance Monarch Mountain’s offerings, providing visitors with even more uncrowded slopes, small-resort camaraderie, and great snow for a fantastic skiing and riding experience.
