Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned overnight attacks on Ukraine’s infrastructure, hospitals, and transport, stating that Putin’s words on halting such attacks were “very different from reality.” He stressed the need for defense and air support to protect Ukraine and called for unity and joint efforts to exert pressure on Russia for peace. Zelenskyy also emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation with Finland on defense production and civil protection.
Zelenskyy’s remarks came during a joint press conference with Finland’s Alex Stubb, where they discussed the ongoing conflict and the importance of supporting Ukraine. Stubb echoed Zelenskyy’s sentiments and criticized Russia’s actions, highlighting the need for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin accused Ukraine of sabotaging ceasefire discussions and praised its reset in relations with the US. They also confirmed plans for further contacts with the US and expressed confidence in Putin’s understanding of Trump. Stubb’s unwavering support for Zelenskyy and criticism of Russia’s actions aimed at Trump demonstrated a unified stance in the face of aggression.
In response to Russian demands to halt military aid to Ukraine, the UK reiterated its continued support for Ukraine. Despite pressure from the Kremlin, British defense sources confirmed that military aid would continue. The EU also outlined its plans to rearm the bloc, mobilizing up to €800bn in defense funding to address current security challenges and support Ukraine. The focus is on closing capability gaps, supporting the European defense industry, and strengthening partnerships with like-minded countries worldwide.
