Broomfield High School was buzzing with excitement as Riverdale Ridge megastar Brihanna Crittendon led her team to a 44-41 upset victory over the Eagles in the Class 6A round of 16. The gym was packed with fans eager to see the five-star junior prospect in action, and she did not disappoint. Crittendon, known as one of Colorado’s greatest girls basketball players, faced tough competition from Broomfield’s star players, including freshman Reece Gilpatrick and her sister Paige.
Despite being held under 20 points for only the second time in 13 games, Crittendon managed to score 17 points and seal the victory with a game-saving block. The match was intense, with both teams giving their all on the court. Broomfield, with a 23-2 record, put up a strong fight and nearly tied the game in the final seconds. However, Crittendon’s defensive skills proved to be too much for the Eagles, securing the win for Riverdale Ridge.
Both teams showed impressive performances throughout the game, with Crittendon acknowledging the talent of Broomfield’s players. The Gilpatrick sisters, along with senior Sydney Deem, contributed significantly to Broomfield’s effort. The game was a reminder of the competitive spirit and excitement surrounding girls’ basketball in Colorado. With a challenging matchup against Highlands Ranch next, Crittendon and Riverdale Ridge are poised to continue their impressive run in the playoffs.
