The National Weather Service is predicting up to 10 inches of snowfall in Colorado’s mountains, with areas such as the I-70 mountain corridor and the Rocky Mountains National Park expected to see the heaviest totals. However, Denver is only expected to see flurries. Meteorologist Russell Danielson stated that the Western Slope could see the most snow, with 4 to 10 inches possible.
While the mountains will see significant snowfall, the eastern plains could receive 1 to 2 inches of snow. An extreme cold warning has been issued for the eastern counties, with windchills potentially dropping to -25 degrees. The Denver metro area can expect arctic windchill temperatures to hit around 0 degrees on Tuesday.
Danielson noted that Denver will not see the extreme cold that the eastern plains are expected to face. Despite the lack of heavy snowfall in the city, residents are advised to bundle up and stay warm as temperatures drop. Travelers heading into the mountains are urged to use caution and be prepared for winter weather conditions. Stay updated on weather forecasts and road conditions to ensure a safe journey.
