The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has released an audio recording capturing the 2023 implosion of the Titan Submersible. The recording, released by the U.S. Coast Guard, captures a static-like sound followed by a rolling boom, which officials believe to be the “suspected acoustic signature” of the implosion. The Titan Submersible was on a tourist expedition to explore the remains of the Titanic when it imploded, resulting in the death of all five passengers on board. The Coast Guard has been conducting investigations into the causes of the disaster and held hearings last year. One of the final messages sent by the crew before the implosion was “All good here,” indicating they may have been unaware of the impending danger. A lawsuit filed by the family of one of the victims alleges that the passengers likely experienced fear and anguish in their final moments. The Coast Guard is expected to release a final report on the implosion as part of their investigation.
