Far-right leaders challenge the EU’s mainstream parties: It’s time for change

The far-right Patriots for Europe (PfE) party made a bold statement at a leaders’ summit in Madrid, declaring its intention to launch a ‘reconquest’ of Europe under the banner of ‘Make Europe Great Again.’ The party, led by figures such as Geert Wilders, Andre Ventura, and Andrej Babiš, aims to reshape the political landscape in Europe by promoting national sovereignty, traditional values, and a strong stance on issues such as free speech and security.

With 89 MEPs in the European Parliament and a strategy to take over mainstream parties like the Socialists, Liberals, and European People’s Party, PfE envisions itself as the new ‘normal’ in Brussels and across the EU. Drawing inspiration from Donald Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ slogan, the party seeks to implement similar policies used in the United States and Latin America to EU member states.

During the summit, leaders discussed strategies to dismantle the Green Deal, oppose LGTBIQ rights represented by the rainbow flag, and promote family and two-gender only policies. They also emphasized the importance of building transatlantic partnerships, with support from figures like Kevin Roberts from The Heritage Foundation and politicians from countries like Venezuela and Argentina.

PfE’s message of patriotism and a return to realistic policies based on free market principles and strong nation-states resonated with attendees, who believe that only through their leadership can Europe truly be made great again. As the party gains momentum and secures support from various European leaders, the future looks promising for their bold vision of a transformed European political landscape.
