Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills was honored with the AP NFL Most Valuable Player award, narrowly beating Lamar Jackson in a close race. Despite the recognition, Allen expressed a desire to win the Super Bowl with his team. Saquon Barkley, Joe Burrow, and Jared Verse were also recognized with awards for their respective performances in the NFL season.
Kevin O’Connell was named AP NFL Coach of the Year for leading the Minnesota Vikings to 14 wins. Patrick Surtain II received the Defensive Player of the Year award, becoming only the seventh cornerback to win the honor. Jayden Daniels and Ben Johnson were acknowledged for their contributions as rookie player and assistant coach of the year, respectively.
The awards were decided by a panel of 50 media members before the playoffs began. While Allen and other recipients expressed gratitude for the recognition, their focus remains on achieving team success and ultimately winning a championship. Despite falling short in the playoffs, these players and coaches were recognized for their outstanding performances in the NFL season.
