A Denver church is facing the aftermath of a devastating fire that caused $200,000 in damages. Lead pastor Daniel Jeong, who also lived in the church, woke up to smoke and a fire alarm in his office. Thankfully, he was able to evacuate his three young children safely before the fire crews arrived.
The fire was believed to have been started by an unhoused person seeking warmth, but no suspects have been identified. The damages included seven rooms, including the pastor’s office and a new daycare center intended for low-income families.
Despite the loss of their home and belongings, Pastor Jeong expressed forgiveness towards the person responsible, believing that God allowed the incident for a greater purpose. The church community and local businesses have come together to support the rebuilding efforts.
Another pastor at the church, Eric Zamora, has been leading the restoration work, which includes repairing damage to the roof and cleaning up smoke and water-soaked areas in the building. The church has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to help raise funds for the rebuilding process, as they do not have fire insurance.
Both pastors are relying on the generosity of the community to help restore the church and continue serving those in need. Despite the challenges they face, they remain hopeful and believe that this crisis can bring people together for a greater cause.
