Grammys shift focus to California fires relief for upcoming awards show – What’s in store

The 67th annual Grammy Awards, scheduled to take place in wildfire-ravaged Los Angeles, will not be canceled or postponed but will be refocused on fire relief efforts. The Recording Academy, in partnership with MusiCares, has launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort with a $1 million donation, with additional contributions allowing for the distribution of $2 million in emergency aid. The music industry is also stepping up to support wildfire relief efforts, with Universal Music Group canceling all Grammy-related events and redirecting funds to fire relief. BMG and Warner Music Group have also canceled their pre-Grammy parties and redirected funds to support fire relief efforts. MusiCares will still hold its annual Persons of the Year benefit gala honoring the Grateful Dead with an additional commitment to wildfire relief. The Grammy Awards will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on the CBS Television Network and streaming on Paramount+.

Beyoncé leads the nominations with 11 for her album “Cowboy Carter,” making her the most-nominated artist in Grammy history. The show will feature performances from various nominees and will serve as a platform to honor first responders and raise additional funds for wildfire relief efforts. The show aims to amplify the spirit of resilience in Los Angeles and the music community as a whole during challenging times.
