President Biden is entering his final week in office with a strong defense of his foreign policy achievements. In a speech at the State Department, he will highlight his successes in bolstering U.S. alliances and weakening adversaries like Russia, China, and Iran. His national security adviser has stated that America is stronger today than it was four years ago under his leadership.
While facing criticism for his foreign policy decisions, such as his handling of the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, a recent Gallup poll shows that America’s standing in Europe has improved significantly during Biden’s presidency. Approval ratings of U.S. leadership in NATO allies have risen in all but four countries since 2020, with notable increases in Germany.
Biden was able to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan, ending the longest war in American history, and rallied the world to stand up to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. However, he faced criticism from both sides for his approach to these conflicts.
