The Palisades Fire tore through parts of Southern California, prompting evacuations and causing chaos on the roads. Firefighters used a bulldozer to clear the road of abandoned vehicles left by evacuating residents, with actor Steve Guttenberg urging drivers to leave their keys behind to allow for easier removal of cars. At least 30 vehicles were moved from roadways, but the exact number of abandoned cars is unknown. The Los Angeles Fire Department did not immediately respond for further details on the operation. Mayor Karen Bass called the wildfires an “unprecedented historic firestorm,” with at least five active fires scorching more than 40 square miles in Los Angeles County. Nearly 180,000 people have been ordered to evacuate, with another 200,000 under evacuation warnings. The Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire were the largest blazes with 0% containment, as firefighters continued to battle the deadly wildfires. Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna stated that it was too early to provide a death toll, highlighting the severity of the situation and the need for residents to stay safe and evacuate as necessary.
