Press Release: Ralphie the Buffalo’s Journey to the Alamo Bowl
DENVER, Colo. – Ralphie the Buffalo, the spirited live mascot of the University of Colorado Boulder, has made a memorable 16-hour journey from Colorado to San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl. Accompanied by her dedicated team, Ralphie traveled approximately 938 miles in an open-air trailer, ensuring her safety and comfort throughout the trip.
Taylor Stratton, Ralphie’s program director, shared insights into the preparation for the journey, noting the successful stop made halfway in order for Ralphie to stretch her legs and take a break. “We’ve been really lucky along the way,” Stratton stated, expressing gratitude to local agricultural communities that offered support and facilities for Ralphie’s care along the route.
Ralphie’s debut in Texas marked a significant milestone, as this was her first journey crossing state lines. Her handlers reported that she enjoyed the sights, and the experience has been equally thrilling for them. The journey to San Antonio has not just been about the destination; it has also been a time to reflect on the excitement surrounding Coach Prime’s leadership and the program’s new direction.
After the Alamo Bowl, Ralphie will embark on the return trip to Colorado, where the operation to bring her home will commence again. Stratton encapsulated the sentiment of the journey, emphasizing her appreciation for being part of this historic moment for the team and its supporters.
As Ralphie prepares to take the field, the team remains committed to ensuring her well-being and cherished place as a symbol of school spirit. With each trip, Ralphie continues to embody the pride of the CU Buffs, leaving lasting memories wherever she goes.
