Man Arrested in Connection with Severed Hand Found in Colorado

A man in Pueblo, Colorado, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder after the body of an adult female was found in Fountain Creek. Solomon Martinez, 26, was found with a severed hand in his coat pocket that is believed to belong to the victim. The arrest came after police received a tip from one of Martinez’s roommates about a body in the creek.

According to an affidavit, Martinez had arrived at a car wash with blood on his hands and soil on his clothing. Another witness claimed Martinez had taken a decapitated woman’s body from his trunk to Fountain Creek on the same day. Martinez denied any involvement in the murder and placed blame on the witness who recorded a video of the scene.

Martinez is currently being held in the Pueblo County jail on a $1 million cash-only bond. The investigation is ongoing, and the cause and manner of death will be determined by the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office. The victim has been identified as Renee Marie Portillos, 47, and her next of kin has been notified.

The Pueblo Police Department is continuing to investigate the homicide and has not released any further details at this time. Meanwhile, Martinez is awaiting his next court appearance in Pueblo District court.
