Denver Broncos’ cornerback Pat Surtain II gave an optimistic update on his ankle injury, saying it’s getting better day by day. Surtain sustained the injury during the Broncos’ 31-13 win over the Colts when he intercepted quarterback Anthony Richardson and was hit by wide receiver Josh Downs. Despite the injury, Surtain returned to the game but went down again after trying to tackle running back Trey Sermon. The Broncos estimated Surtain would have been a full participant in practice if it had taken place on Monday, but the team did not practice ahead of their game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday.
Surtain’s injury comes after missing the team’s last Thursday night game due to a concussion suffered in the first matchup with the Chargers. The cornerback did not confirm whether he would be able to play in Thursday’s game against the Chargers. In a show of generosity, Surtain gave away 100 children’s bikes and helmets to members of A Precious Child, a local organization that supports Colorado children.
Despite the injury setback, Surtain remains positive and determined to recover quickly. Broncos fans will have to wait and see if he will be able to take the field against the Chargers on Thursday night. For more Broncos news and analysis, fans can sign up for the Broncos Insider newsletter.
