Residents in New Jersey have been reporting mysterious drone sightings for weeks, prompting concerns and theories about their origin. The situation has now spread to other East Coast states, with reports of similar drones in New York and Maryland. New York Governor Kathy Hochul assured residents that there is no imminent threat to public safety or national security, and that investigations are ongoing with federal partners.
Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan also reported seeing dozens of large drones above his residence, demanding answers on the origin of these aircraft. Lawmakers in various states have called for more transparency from investigating agencies. The FBI and Department of Homeland Security have stated that there is currently no evidence to suggest that these drones pose a threat to national security or public safety.
The irregular drone sightings started in November in New Jersey, with witness accounts describing large drones measuring 6 feet in diameter flying at night from dusk to 11 p.m. The Federal Aviation Administration issued a temporary flight restriction over certain areas in response to the drone sightings. As investigations continue, the American people are demanding answers and action from the federal government to address this issue.
