The Denver Broncos have waived wide receiver Josh Reynolds after a short tenure that was marred by a scary drive-by shooting incident. Reynolds played only five games for the Broncos in 2024 before injuring his hand and being placed on IR. Just 12 days after his injury, Reynolds was shot twice in a drive-by shooting but thankfully avoided serious injury. Head coach Sean Payton said Reynolds was shaken up after the incident. Reynolds returned to practice in November but was never activated off IR. The Broncos decided to waive Reynolds on Tuesday, ending his time in Denver with 12 catches for 183 yards and a touchdown. The decision was influenced by the progress of rookie wide receivers Devaughn Vele and Troy Franklin, as well as the emergence of Courtland Sutton as a true No. 1 wideout. Reynolds had signed a two-year, $9 million contract with the Broncos, with $4.31 million guaranteed for this year. The team decided to make room for other players, including veteran wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey, who Payton likes for his contributions to the run game and leadership. Reynolds, a respected NFL veteran, is expected to land with another team as he moves forward from his time in Denver.
