Sarah Boone, a Florida woman, has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of second-degree murder in the killing of her boyfriend, Jorge Torres Jr. The incident occurred when the couple was drinking, and Boone zipped Torres up in a suitcase during a game of hide-and-seek. Boone then went to sleep, believing Torres would be able to free himself, but he was found dead the next morning. The court heard testimonies from the victim’s family, expressing the pain and loss caused by Boone’s actions.
Boone’s attorney argued that she acted under extreme duress due to Torres’ alleged physical and mental abuse. Boone claimed that she was trying to express her feelings to Torres by filming him in the suitcase, but things escalated when he threatened her from inside. Torres had bruises on his hand and head, as well as a busted lip, during the autopsy. Boone maintained that she did not intend to kill Torres and was shocked to find him dead in the suitcase the next morning.
