Naresh Bhatt, a Virginia man suspected of “concealment of a dead body” in connection with his wife’s disappearance, has now been charged with murder and physically defiling a dead body. Mamta Kafle Bhatt, a nurse and mother, was last seen on July 31 in Manassas Park, and her body has not been found. Evidence points to her being killed in the couple’s home and dismembered.
Bhatt was arrested in August and has remained in custody without bond. Police believe the victim was killed between July 29th and July 30th. The investigation is ongoing, and a motive for the murder remains unclear. The couple has a 1-year-old daughter, and Kafle Bhatt had not had contact with family or friends since her disappearance.
Mamta Kafle Bhatt’s friend created an online fundraiser to find her, as it was out of character for her to leave her child. Bhatt reported his wife missing on August 5, and police responded to the couple’s home after concerns were raised by colleagues. It is not known if Bhatt has obtained legal representation, and a court date in his case has not been set.
