Israel escalates attacks on Gaza, issues further evacuation orders | Latest Gaza updates

Israeli military airstrikes continue to hit Gaza, causing the deaths of at least 14 people in the northern part of the territory. The Israeli army has also issued new evacuation orders, forcing residents to flee from the southern city of Khan Younis for their safety. This comes as part of ongoing violence in the region, which has left dozens dead.

Reports show that eight people were killed in Beit Lahiya, four in Gaza City, and two in Jabalia as a result of the overnight strikes. The Israeli army’s evacuation orders in Khan Younis have prompted a mass exodus of residents towards what is being referred to as a “humanitarian zone,” despite claims that such areas do not actually exist.

Critics argue that Israel is using terms like “humanitarian zone” to justify forced displacements and create the appearance of adhering to humanitarian laws. Palestinian and United Nations officials have stated that there are no safe areas in Gaza, and that most of the territory’s population has been displaced multiple times due to the ongoing conflict.

Palestinian groups have accused the Israeli army of attempting to create a buffer zone by driving people from the northern edge of Gaza through forced evacuations and bombing campaigns. However, the army denies these claims, stating its actions are aimed at preventing Hamas fighters from regrouping in previously cleared areas.

The Palestinian Civil Defence has reported that its operations in several areas of Gaza have been hindered due to Israeli attacks on their teams and fuel shortages, resulting in casualties and vehicle damage. This adds to the already dire situation in Gaza, where civilians continue to suffer from the ongoing violence and displacement.
