The 77-year-old singer made the announcement at the launch of the “The Devil Wears Prada” musical in London’s West End, where he admitted that he was unable to watch the performance due to his condition.
Despite his vision impairment, Elton John expressed his love for the musical’s sound and thanked his husband, David Furnish, for being his rock during this difficult time. The infection has left him with limited vision in one eye, making it impossible for him to read or watch anything.
Although Elton John has retired from touring, he has been focusing on his music career by writing the score for the musical adaptation of the popular novel. The singer’s health issues have cast doubt on his ability to record new music in the future, but he remains optimistic about regaining his sight.
