Tragedy Strikes Commerce City Family After Beloved Dog Is Abandoned
Commerce City, CO – The Ordonez family is grappling with profound loss following the death of Rambo, their cherished 12-year-old dog. Alex Ordonez, an 18-year-old member of the family, expressed the emptiness felt in their home after Rambo’s sudden disappearance and subsequent tragedy. The family welcomed Rambo into their lives in 2012 as a gift, and he quickly became an integral part of their daily lives, always present during cherished moments.
On November 23, Rambo vanished after the family let him outside while attending a church event. The Ordonez family initially thought he was simply guarding the property. However, their hopes were dashed when a post from the Commerce City Police Department revealed that a bystander had witnessed someone throw Rambo from a moving vehicle at East 64th Avenue and Monaco Street.
Joanna Small, Public Information Officer for the police, reported that while the good Samaritan attempted to assist Rambo after observing him yelp upon hitting the ground, the dog’s injuries were severe. Veterinarians later confirmed the heartbreaking news that Rambo had a fractured spine and had to be euthanized due to the loss of mobility.
"This really sucks when you’ve spent 12 years with this dog and he just goes away," Alex lamented, emphasizing the close bond they shared. Even amidst their grief, Alex finds it in his heart to forgive the individual responsible for Rambo’s fate but urges authorities to uncover the perpetrator. The Commerce City Police continue to investigate, seeking information about the suspect and the vehicle involved in this distressing incident.
