California Man Arrested for Attempted Sex Trafficking in Denver

A 48-year-old man from California, Murlin Swanston, has been arrested on charges of attempting to sex traffic women in Denver, according to Denver District Attorney Beth McCann. His arrest was made in California with the assistance of state fugitive agents and Denver DA investigators.

Swanston allegedly initiated contact with thousands of women across the country starting in 2021, many of whom were commercial sex workers, through online sex platforms. Investigators suspect that he was attempting to lure these women into his trafficking ring, specifically targeting two individuals from Denver.

As the case unfolds, prosecutors believe there may be additional victims in the Denver area and are urging anyone with information or who may have been victimized to reach out to Denver DA Investigator Joe DeAngelo at 720.913.9108. Swanston is currently in custody in California, awaiting extradition to Colorado. While formal charges will be filed upon his return to Denver, an extradition date has yet to be established.

This case highlights ongoing concerns about human trafficking and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals, especially within the online sex industry. Authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to combat trafficking and protect potential victims.

The Denver District Attorney’s office continues to investigate the situation, aiming to ensure that justice is served and that any affected individuals receive the support they need.
