Denver Authorities Announce Arrest in Alleged Sex Trafficking Case
Denver, CO – Investigators in Denver have played a critical role in apprehending Murlin Swanston, a 48-year-old man from Los Angeles, accused of attempting to lure two women in metro Denver into an illegal sex trafficking ring. Denver District Attorney Beth McCann confirmed Swanston’s arrest in California, facilitated by state fugitive agents, in a news release issued on Monday.
Swanston is alleged to have reached out to thousands of women nationwide, primarily targeting commercial sex workers, since 2021. According to investigators, he utilized social media platforms and text messages to make contact with women, attempting to recruit them for his online trafficking operation.
Currently in custody in California, Swanston is awaiting extradition to Colorado to face charges. The DA’s office believes there may be many more victims connected to Swanston’s activities in Denver. They have called on any potential victims to reach out to Investigator Joe DeAngelo in the DA’s Human Trafficking Unit at 720-913-9108 for assistance and to provide information.
As the situation develops, authorities have yet to announce a date for Swanston’s extradition to Colorado, but the investigation continues in hopes of identifying additional victims and gathering further evidence against the suspect.
This case highlights the ongoing issue of human trafficking and the importance of vigilance in identifying and aiding potential victims. The DA’s office remains committed to addressing these criminal activities and ensuring justice for those affected.
