Dentist Accused of Murdering Wife Faces Additional Charge for Alleged Attempted Hit on Detective

Colorado dentist James Toliver Craig, who was already charged with poisoning his wife in order to be with another woman, is now also accused of attempting to have a detective investigating his wife’s death killed. The 46-year-old allegedly tried to get a fellow jail inmate to commit the crime on two occasions. He is currently being held at the Arapahoe County Detention Center.

In addition to the new attempted murder charges, James faces charges of first-degree murder in connection with his wife Angela Craig’s death last year. Angela, who died after experiencing symptoms consistent with poisoning, was allegedly given potassium cyanide and arsenic by her husband. James had researched undetectable poisons and had been in communication with another woman, possibly having an intimate relationship with her while his wife was in the hospital.

James had previously pleaded not guilty to charges related to his wife’s death, but his trial was delayed when his attorneys withdrew from the case. The next hearing is scheduled for December 16. Those close to Angela have alleged that James had a history of cheating and an addiction to pornography, and the couple had been experiencing marital problems for years.
