Commerce City Police Seek Suspect in Disturbing Dog Abuse Case
Commerce City, Colo. – The Commerce City Police Department is actively investigating a shocking incident involving animal cruelty, where a dog was thrown from a moving vehicle on November 23 at approximately 7:45 p.m. at the intersection of East 64th Avenue and Monaco Street.
The distressing event was witnessed by a Good Samaritan, who rushed to the dog’s aid before police arrived. Tragically, the dog was taken to an emergency veterinarian, where it was discovered that the animal suffered a broken spine, was in "tremendous pain," and ultimately had to be euthanized.
In a subsequent social media update, the Commerce City Police announced they had been contacted by an individual claiming to be the dog’s owner. This person stated that the dog, named "Rambo," had been left in their backyard and was missing upon their return.
Authorities have indicated that those responsible for this cruel act could face felony aggravated animal cruelty charges. The police are urging anyone with information regarding the incident or the identity of the suspect(s) to come forward by calling 303-287-2844.
