Colorado Weather: December Kicks Off with Mild and Dry Conditions

Dry and Mild Start to December in Colorado: A Weather Update

As Colorado transitions into December, residents can expect a continuation of dry and mild weather following a notably snowy November. The state recorded 23.3 inches of snow, marking it as the fourth snowiest November on record.

The first week of December is expected to be characterized by sunny skies and temperatures that are above the seasonal average. Daytime highs on Sunday will range from the upper 40s to the low 50s in many areas, while mountain temperatures will be cooler, in the 30s and low 40s. Notably, the average high for December 1st is 47 degrees.

Breezy conditions will prevail, particularly in the foothills, where wind gusts could reach up to 50 miles per hour. However, winds are forecasted to calm by Sunday evening, leading to more tranquil weather patterns statewide on Monday.

Monday is expected to maintain similar daytime highs in the upper 40s and low 50s. The warmest day forecasted for the week will be Tuesday, with temperatures approaching 60 degrees due to downsloping winds.

For the Denver metro area, the dry and sunny conditions are anticipated to persist throughout the week, with daytime highs consistently in the 50s.

This initial stretch of December is shaping up to offer pleasant weather, ensuring Colorado residents can enjoy a clear start to the winter month. Stay tuned for further updates from CBS News Colorado’s First Alert Weather Center.
