Doctor Daniel Paduch convicted of multiple counts of sexual abuse of patients

Darius Paduch, a former New York-area urologist, was sentenced to life in prison for sexually abusing patients, including minors, over a span of years. He was convicted of inducing individuals to travel for unlawful sexual activity, including children, and was also ordered to pay restitution. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York described Paduch as a sexual predator who took advantage of vulnerable patients seeking treatment for sensitive medical issues. Despite working at prestigious hospitals, Paduch used his position to sexually assault patients for his own gratification. Victims testified about being abused by him, with dozens more providing impact statements before he was sentenced. Paduch also enticed victims to travel to his medical offices in New York City and New Jersey, as well as his boat, where he provided sedatives before abusing them. He made victims believe the abuse was medically necessary when it was not. In addition, Paduch invited minors to serve as high school interns and continued to abuse patients at a different hospital on Long Island. The former doctor’s actions caused long-lasting harm to his victims, with some enduring abuse over the course of multiple years. Paduch’s sentencing marks the end of a disturbing chapter of sexual abuse and exploitation within the medical profession.
