Chilly and Overcast Colorado Weather Kicks Off the Weekend

The weekend in Denver started off cool with daytime highs in the upper 50s and mostly cloudy skies. Some rain showers were expected in the Front Range, with heavier rain and snowfall further south in Colorado. The San Juan Mountains were under a Winter Storm Warning, with up to 12 inches of snow expected by Sunday afternoon. Travel on mountain passes above 10,000 feet may be impacted. As a low-pressure system moves through on Sunday, gusty winds up to 25 mph are expected, with a chance of a stray shower in the metro area. Temperatures will warm up slightly on Sunday, reaching the upper 60s and low 70s. Next week, temperatures are expected to stay in the 70s with sunny and dry conditions. Callie Zanandrie, from the First Alert Weather Center for CBS News Colorado, provided the latest forecast. Travelers should be aware of possible impacts on mountain passes and prepare accordingly.
