Colorado voters will have some big decisions to make this November as they consider two ballot measures that could significantly impact the state’s election process and law enforcement support.
Proposition 310 seeks to implement a ranked-choice voting system for both primaries and general elections for state and federal races. This measure, funded by multimillionaire Kent Thiry and Colorado Voters First, aims to be in effect by 2026, changing the way candidates qualify for the general election ballot.
Meanwhile, Proposition 157, also known as “Back The Blue,” would establish a fund to support law enforcement officers and their families. This initiative, backed by Advance Colorado, would not require new taxes but would allocate $1 million for families of officers killed in the line of duty.
With the approval of these two measures, Colorado voters will now have nine statewide propositions to consider in November. It will be up to the voters to decide the future of their electoral process and the level of support available for law enforcement in the state.
