The Bucktail Fire in Montrose County, Colorado, has seen minimal new growth overnight and is currently 3,788 acres with 10% containment. The fire started on August 1st near Nucla and has spread to Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service land. The Montrose County Sheriff’s Office reported that the fire primarily grew along the south and east sides, with afternoon storms having little effect on fire activity.
There are currently no evacuations in place for the Bucktail Fire, but some nearby road closures include 25 Mesa Road to the northwest, Houser Road, Cottonwood Trail, and Highway 90 to the south. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
